This morning I came downstairs and was greeted with a cheery “expletive you”. I’m so glad Kris was happy. (Yeah, right.)
Kris came to me already knowing this phrase and one other phrase, not a curse but still unacceptable. How do I know he didn’t learn it from me — from me he would be screaming at the top of his lungs — “Darn this expletive-ing computer. Where’s my sledge hammer?” He hasn’t said that yet. Don’t you believe in sledge hammer computer repair? Most people have had moments fantasizing about it.
He then continued with his normal happy morning chatter. Some of his words I can’t quite understand but they do sound like words, not noises nor are they curses (I think).
Man, this birdie starts out the day cheerfully. The minute Kris hears me upstairs he starts with a couple of loud squawks and beeps announcing his presence and readiness for the day. Then “Crispy” and “hello” . The chattering changes into a an assortment of happy contented sounds. This all repeats with every movement from me he hears.
When I come downstairs, he starts the squawks again, simmering down to the happy sounding chatter. Kris and I exchange “Hellos” and he asks “What are you doing?” I laugh and he laughs back. I tell him “birds just want to have fun” and he just chatters away at me. Then my cat walks by, ignoring Kris, but he starts to flutter around the cage. Cat just wants breakfast “Meow” or maybe she means NOW!
Kris is a Princess of Wales Parakeet. He is considered a medium sized parrot. The breed originates from Australia. He has beautiful blue plumage. Now I know you are thinking… “but wait! aren’t Princess of Wales usually green”…. Kris is a mutant. No. He doesn’t have two heads and an extra wing. I looked. It’s because of his color. There are two color mutations the blue and what they call Lutino, a very pretty yellow.
YES HE TALKS!
I will slowly be adding more content, this is just begining. O. K. everyone start singing … “We’ve only just begun”. Don’t know the song? You do not want me to sing it to you. I can’t carry a tune in a bucket.
